Access Statement for Kateshill House
We aim to cater for the needs of all who visit Kateshill House, where possible. We have 7 guest bedrooms in our grade 2 listed house, none of these are on the ground floor. Being a Grade 2 listed property there is no wheelchair access to the guest accommodation, although we are happy to recommend local B&Bs that can accommodate. The following statement is a summary of our provision.
We are a 10 minute walk from the Town Centre of Bewdley.
There is a bus stop in town with a frequent bus service.
The main train station is 10 minutes away by car.
There are a number of local taxi services that have accessible taxis if required. We can supply contact numbers so that you may make a booking if required.
Brochures and menus can be provided in large print if necessary.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you.
On arrival, we ask all guests to call at our front entrance. We have a stone gravel drive and 7 steps up to the main entrance porch, although we do have ramped access at the back of the house for wheelchair users.
We have ample parking at the front of the house with room for up to 10 cars.
We are able to assist guests with luggage if this is required.
Main Entrance & Reception
The front porch entrance has a series of 7 steps leading up to the front door with a metal hand rail.
Entrance is into our slate Reception Hall. On arrival, guests are required to complete our registration form and are then shown to their rooms and our facilities are explained. Seating is provided in guest lounge.
Public Areas - General (Internal)
Our Dining Room, guest lounge and guest WC are on the ground floor which is slate tiled in the main reception, and then carpeted throughout the other areas. The covering on the stairs and upstairs corridors is carpet. There are 12 stairs leading to a small landing followed by a further 9 stairs to the upper landing and first floor bedrooms (4 en-suite double rooms). There is a further staircase to the top floor bedrooms (3 en-suite double rooms).
Public Areas - WC
All bedrooms are en-suite, and there is a public WC on the ground floor for guests.
Breakfast is served in our Dining Room on the ground floor and is accessed from our Reception Hall. There are 3 round tables that each seat up to 10 guests. A child’s high chair is available if required. Chairs are without arms. Menus may be provided in larger print by prior arrangement.
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and all other diets can be catered for.
There is central heating throughout the house. The temperature of each guest bedroom is controlled by thermostatic controls on the radiators. The beds are made with all-season duvets, and the thickness is adjusted to suit the time of year. Each bedroom has a ‘hospitality tray’ with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and a bottle of water. In each room there is a hair dryer, a clock radio and a TV with remote control. Each room has storage space which usually consists of a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet.
Being a Grade 2 listed property there is no wheelchair access to the guest accommodation.
Grounds and Gardens
To the front of the house we have an enclosed hedged garden with a graveled area and shrubbery. Potted plants and a sundial also enhance the appearance. Seating in this area is available to our guests. There is also a vegetable garden and Sweet Chestnut Tree in the garden.
Mobile phone reception is generally good.
We are totally non-smoking.
There is a fire extinguisher in the entrance hall, the ground floor rear corridor, and on the upstairs landing.
We are able to use the front and rear doors should evacuation be necessary. The fire alarm rings if evacuation is needed. If you need assistance in this kind of emergency (e.g. hearing impairment) please let us know on arrival and we will ensure that you are evacuated safely.
